Understanding Recognition of Prior Achievement (PPA)

Recognition of Prior Achievement (PPA), previously known as the Accreditation of Prior Achievement, is a method designed to acknowledge individuals who can demonstrate the skills outlined in the National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS) based on their prior experience and achievements. This method is an integral part of the Malaysian Skills Certification Programme, introduced on September 13, 1996. It emphasizes the concept of lifelong learning and aims to evaluate and develop learning acquired through both formal and informal means.

Emphasizing Lifelong Learning

The Malaysian Skills Certification Programme acknowledges the invaluable contribution of skilled workers in the country. It recognizes that skills and knowledge can be gained through various means, including work experience, life experiences, and training, regardless of when, how, or where they were obtained. This inclusive approach ensures that all individuals have the opportunity to have their skills formally recognized and validated.

Day's Assessment and Results

During the event on July 19, participants were assessed in two advanced management programs:

Programme: Pengurus Binaan Awam Dan Struktur [CVS4]
Results: 6 people passed

Programme: Pengurus Mekanikal Dan Elektrik [MCE4]
Results: 3 people passed

The participants underwent rigorous practical assessments to demonstrate their expertise in their respective fields. Out of the nine participants, six successfully passed the "Pengurus Binaan Awam Dan Struktur" program, and three passed the "Pengurus Mekanikal Dan Elektrik" program. These results highlight the participants' comprehensive understanding and practical skills, validated through the recognition of their prior achievements.

Conclusion

The "Penilaian Amali Melalui Pengiktirafan Pencapaian Terdahulu (PPA-PPT)" event on July 19 was a testament to UniMAP's commitment to recognizing and validating the skills of experienced individuals.
